• Facilitate dermatological education and training at all health care levels especially in disadvantaged communities in Africa.
• Improve the quality of care in dermatology and venereology in resource poor communities.
• Develop a cadre of experienced dermatologists, dermato-venereologists and health workers willing to serve on a short or long-term basis as visiting teachers, lecturers, advisers, or practitioners of dermatology; and to provide mentorship for those wishing to develop such a role.
• Document the needs of patients with dermatological disease in such areas and the current status and future requirements for trained manpower and resources.
• Develop rational treatment protocols and procedures which can be used widely in the developing world.
• Promulgate collaborative programmes between institutions from developing and developed countries of the world, non-governmental organizations and industry.
• Encourage and carry out appropriate research designed to improve the care of patients with dermatological disease.
• Promote dermato-venereological education and communication needs in developing countries at national and international meetings.
• Contribute to other programmes whose aim is to help patients with dermato-venereological diseases in resource poor settings.
